The NDU&CHDSClub/Argentina (Club of Argentine Graduate Students from the Center of Hemispheric Defense Studies and other US. National Defense University training centers) with the cooperation of the CHDS graduate students from Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay and the sponsorship of the Defense Ministry, the Army, Navy and Air Force of Argentina, has organized the First Regional Symposium on International Defense and Security entitled "Defense in the Subregion. New Challenges - New Responses," to be held in the City of Buenos Aires on April 2 through 5, 2001.

Regional defense industry capabilities in the South Cone may supplement the above potential activity.

Participants include:

    2. Panel members: Officials and experts involved in the International Defense and Security decision-making processes, members of congress from the Defense, International Security, Foreign Affairs and similar Committees from the South Cone countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay), and guests from other countries in the hemisphere.
